The short version

  • 6pm is a budgeting tool. It counts the money you tell it about. It never moves money, and it is not financial advice.
  • The close, capture and privacy are free, for good.
  • 6pm Max is an auto-renewing subscription with a 7-day free trial. Apple charges you, and you cancel in your Apple ID settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Looks are bought once and are yours to keep on your Apple ID.

Who we are, and what these terms cover

6pm is made by Khanh Bui (“we”, “us”). These terms cover the 6pm app for iPhone and the website at at6pm.app. By installing or using 6pm, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use 6pm.

6pm is also covered by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), which is part of this agreement. If the two disagree about something Apple’s EULA covers, the EULA wins. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for 6pm, its support or its content.

How we handle your data is in our Privacy Policy.

Using 6pm

We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use 6pm on Apple devices you own or control, under the Usage Rules of the App Store. 6pm is free to download and use, except for the paid parts below.

You agree to:

  • use 6pm lawfully, for yourself;
  • not copy, reverse engineer or resell the app, or try to get around its limits or purchases;
  • not attack or overload our servers.

You must be at least 16, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.

Your data is yours. We do not claim any rights over what you put into 6pm.

Not financial advice

6pm counts. The number it shows, such as “safe to spend today”, is arithmetic on the figures you gave it, plus any spends it catches for you. It is not financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and it does not know everything about your money.

  • Check what 6pm catches. A receipt or QR code can be misread. A spend can be missed or counted twice.
  • 6pm never moves money. When you pay, you do it in your bank app. Before you send a transfer, check the account name, number and amount there.
  • 6pm is not a bank, a payment service or a lender.
  • You decide what to do with your money. You are responsible for those decisions.

Free and paid parts

The close, capture of your spends, and your privacy are free. Some extras are paid:

  • Looks are one-time purchases.
  • 6pm Max is a subscription.

What each one includes is shown in the app, on the Looks and Max screens. Prices are shown there too, read from the App Store in your currency and including any taxes Apple adds.

6pm Max subscription

  • What it is. 6pm Max is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. The plan, its length and its price are shown in the app before you buy.
  • Free trial. New subscribers can get a 7-day free trial. The app tells you if you are eligible. Apple allows one trial per Apple ID. If you buy a subscription during a trial, the rest of the trial is lost.
  • Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
  • Renewal. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the next period within 24 hours before it ends, at the price shown when you subscribed, unless Apple has told you of a new price and you have accepted it.
  • Manage or cancel. Go to Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You can also tap Manage in the Max screen of the app. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. After you cancel, Max stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Refunds. Apple handles payments and refunds. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • If Max ends. Max-only features stop. The free parts of 6pm keep working, and the data on your phone stays yours.

Looks

A look is a one-time purchase. You pay once, it does not renew, and it is tied to your Apple ID. If you reinstall 6pm or use a new iPhone with the same Apple ID, tap Restore purchases to get your looks back.

Your data and backups

Your data lives on your phone. You are responsible for keeping your phone safe and up to date. If you delete the app or use “Delete all data” in Settings, your data on the phone is erased, and we cannot bring it back.

Backup is a 6pm Max feature. It is end-to-end encrypted: we cannot read it, and we cannot recover it for you if you lose the key. Keep your Apple ID and iCloud Keychain safe.

Availability and changes

We work hard to make 6pm reliable, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors. Features that need our server can change or be paused. We may update the app and these terms as 6pm grows. If a change to these terms matters, we will tell you in the app or on this page before it takes effect, and your continued use after that means you accept it. If you do not accept it, stop using 6pm.

No warranty

To the extent the law allows, 6pm is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises about accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted service.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost savings, or any loss from a decision you made using 6pm, including a spend that 6pm missed or misread. Our total liability for any claim about 6pm is limited to the amount you paid for 6pm in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or the rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Ending

You can stop using 6pm at any time by deleting the app. If you have a subscription, cancel it as described above. We may suspend access to our servers if you misuse them or break these terms.

Other companies

Apple, your bank and its app, and the other services 6pm connects to have their own terms. We do not control them and are not responsible for them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. If we have a disagreement, please write to us first and we will try to sort it out. If we cannot, the competent courts of Vietnam will decide it. This does not take away the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
